At the time of writing, our Chrismas competition is still underway. Dave Carr landed a Blue shark of 42kg and a mako shark of 173kg, setting a reasonable benchmark for further catches of those species. Members are urged to tag and release fish that are obviously smaller.
Only one other gamefish has been caught this season so far, a Mako of around 100kg, which was successfully tagged and released, again by Dave.
A number of Salmon have been caught over the holidays, with the fish to beat caught by Warren Lewis, and weighing in at 11kg. Blue cod are plentiful and seem to be in good condition, with many being stuffed with krill. Groper are still being caught at Taieri Mouth, and other fish weighed in over Xmas include a beautiful Rays Bream of 1.5kg caught by Steve MacKay, and a 1.5kg Trumpeter caught by Trevor Brown.

Members have made great progress with cladding of our clubroom, several work days have been held over the break, and the building is now lockable and secure, and is nearly weathertight. Further work is required to complete the exterior, including fitting of the upstairs window, flashing of some windows and exterior joints, and fitting of spoutings...but we are nearly there!!!
Work evenings will be held each Tuesday night starting at 5.30pm. If you are a member, and are in Dunedin, PLEASE make yourself available...
